Frances Trombly (b. 1976 Miami, FL) is based in Miami and one of the Co-founders and Co-director of Dimensions Variable (DV). Her work is represented in diverse and international public and private collections, with a strong base in FL, a reflection of making Miami, FL her home.
She has exhibited nationally and internationally, with important institutional solo exhibitions at Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, FL, Locust Projects, Miami, FL; Girls’ Club Collection in Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and the Goldie Paley Gallery at the Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, PA. She received a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and completed residencies at ArtPace, San Antonio, Texas, Oolite Arts, Miami Beach, FL, the Capri Palace in Anacapri, Italy, and the Vermont Studio Center. Trombly has exhibited throughout the US, as well as venues abroad, including important group exhibitions, such as Illusions are Real, Manif d’art, Québec City Biennale (2022); Wabi Sabi, Sun Valley Museum of Art (2022) and #fail, Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans (2022), Happy at NSU Art Museum (2019), Stitch, Beeler Gallery at Columbus College of Art & Design (2017), Textures of Place, Prosjektrom Normanns, Stavanger, Norway (2014), Americana: Formalizing Craft, Perez Art Museum Miami (2013), and united states, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum (2012) and Come Together: Frances Trombly & Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova, Bass Museum of Art, Miami Beach (2011).
In addition to these shows, her work has been featured in various publications including The New York Times, Art Papers, Sculpture Magazine, Surface Design Journal, and The Los Angeles Times. She is represented by Emerson Dorsch, Miami and Shoshana Wayne, Los Angeles.
