Richard Garet

Richard Garet is a contemporary multimedia artist born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1972. He holds an MFA from Bard College, NY. Garet has lived and worked in the United States since 1996. At the core of Garet’s artistic exploration lies an investigation of the ontological relationships between materials, perception, and media. His work deeply engages with background noise activation, the orchestration of imagery and sound, and the interconnection between obsolete and contemporary technological apparatuses. By transforming discarded artifacts and outdated media technologies into meaningful artistic expressions, Garet examines the concepts of obsolescence, materiality, and sensory awareness. Through conceptual and experimental processes, his practice results in abstractions that reflect contemporary life as a filtered and sensory experience, inviting viewers to engage with the unseen, unheard, and unnoticed.

Richard Garet’s works have been included in prominent institutional collections such as MoMA in New York, the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in Los Angeles, CIFO (Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation) in Florida, and the SPACE Collection (formerly Sayago & Pardon Collection) in Irvine, California. Additionally, Garet’s works are held in numerous prestigious private collections across the United States.
