We are pleased to announce Studio Focus—Rosemarie Chiarlone, taking place on October 4 at 11 am. Rosemarie’s studio is located in her private home; therefore space is extremely limited. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. This intimate session offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with Rosemarie and gain insight into her practice, process, and work. RSVP is required. Rosemarie Chiarlone
Rosemarie Chiarlone (b. 1951, Philadelphia, PA) is a conceptual artist based in Miami Beach, Florida. She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where she earned a certificate, and at Florida International University, where she received a BFA and MS. Her multidisciplinary practice includes site-specific installations, sculpture, works on paper, and artist books.
Chiarlone’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at institutions including the National Museum of Women in the Arts, The Wolfsonian-FIU, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, McMullen Museum of Art, Sarah Lawrence College, USF Contemporary Art Museum, Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum, Center for Book Arts NYC, MDC Museum of Art + Design, Columbia University, Galerie Verein Berliner Künstler in Germany, the University of Gloucestershire in England, the University of Kyoto in Japan, Universidad de Costa Rica, and the Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo in Costa Rica.
Her art is held in numerous public and private collections, including the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Yale University, The Sackner Archive of Visual and Concrete Poetry, the Center for Book Arts in New York, Bainbridge Island Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, Miami-Dade Art in Public Places, Girls Club/Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz Collection, The Mosquera Collection, Deering Estate, The Arthur and Mata Jaffe Collection of Books as Aesthetic Objects, several university special collections, and private collections.
Chiarlone has received the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award, Florida Visual Artist Fellowships, numerous grants and awards from the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, and multiple Florida Artists Book Prize awards from the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book. She was also nominated for the Joan Mitchell Fellowship. Her artist residencies include the Deering Estate, Vermont Studio Center, and Oolite Arts.
