Vanessa Lustig
Vanessa Lustig is the founder and creative half of Atelierlustig, and founder of AWI. She is an experimental media artist based in South Florida creating delicate, minimalist fiber interventions on two and three dimensional media, hand felted objects embedded with responsive technologies, and experimental jewelry. Her artistic practice is centered on observations and research of changing psychological, cultural and post-anthropocentric contexts and situations that embody possible modes of posthuman identity & culture.
Meticulously mastered craft techniques and new technologies result in works that are more-than-human entities- minimal, quiet, yet challenging object-entities that cohabitate and co-create with other entities through future-thinking activities in order to collaboratively explore the subtleties of emotion, intuition and nonverbal interaction. Each body of work sparks awareness of what Lustig terms the “in-betweens” of human and more-than-human entanglement – a constant reminder that we can only be (exist) not because we relate to Others (humans), but because we relate to Others (multi-entity).
Lustig holds an MFA with Distinction from Transart Institute/LJMU, and has a multidisciplinary background in design, communications, photography, clinical and positive psychlogy.
