Poetic: Verso & Reverso

Dimensions Variable (DV) presents a digital project titled Poetic: Verso & Reverso by Muu Blanco. The project launches on screen at DV, streaming on our website, and on Instagram on October 14, 2026. It will display ongoing on our website.

Blanco works from the suspicion that every image contains another image behind it. Poetic: Verso & Reverso takes recordings of the artist’s surroundings and subjects them to synthesis and vectorization until the document loosens its hold on what it depicts and becomes frequency, geometry, vibration, and residue. At its center turns the Internet loading circle, the small spinning figure that promises something is about to arrive. Here nothing fully arrives. The image loads without resolving and movement continues without a destination, an emblem of latency, expectation, and the endless circulation of images.

The video follows the logic of verse and reverse. A sequence advances until it reaches a perceptual threshold: red enters the image, whites and highlights turn yellow, and a fusion-based sound emerges, disappearing as those colors recede. The sequence then runs in the opposite direction—not as repetition but as inversion, a perceptual rewinding in which departure and return fold into a single circular system.

Woven into this surface are fragments Blanco recorded while visiting exhibitions by Jesús Rafael Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez, and Julio Le Parc. Soto dissolved the solid object into vibration,¹ Cruz-Diez treated color as an autonomous event unfolding in space and time,² and Le Parc and the Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel called for an active, participating viewer.³ In Blanco’s process, the observed artwork becomes a recording, the recording an archive, the archive a vector, and the vector moves again. The questions kinetic art once posed in the gallery are displaced toward the screen, the interface, the loop, and the digital error, where movement becomes a technological and mental condition as well as a perceptual one.

Drawing on a practice in video and sound that began in Caracas in the early 1990s,⁴ Blanco does not represent the Internet. He offers an experience of how we wait for, record, and revisit images today: everything approaches revelation, mutates, and returns, yet nothing fully resolves.
