Mabelin Castellanos

Mabelin Castellanos is a self-taught artist living and working in Miami, Florida.

She was a Scientist for more than thirty years and she loved every minute of it. In 2015 her career ended due to neurological issues. It was a long recovery and creating Art played an enormous part in her healing process.

She uses textiles to create quilted narratives. Her free-motion quilting technique allows her to draw with her sewing machine, captivatingly capturing the vibrant energy of her city. Castellanos’ work evokes thoughtfulness, raising sentiments and questions through her textile vignettes.
