Edison Peñafiel

Edison Peñafiel, originally from Ecuador and now based in Miami, Florida, specializes in video and immersive installations. His work is deeply influenced by his firsthand experiences with immigration and political instability in South America, exploring themes such as global migration, politics, cultural clashes, safety, and identity. Peñafiel’s installations have been showcased at renowned venues including Elsewhere Museum in Greensboro, NC, the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL, amongst others. Penafiel has received multiple recognitions including the Florida Prize in Contemporary Art 2019 at the Orlando Museum of Art, the South Florida Cultural Consortium 2019 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Miami, The Knight Foundation Fellowship, amongst other accolades.
